Functional Nutrition

Functional nutrition is all about eating for a specific purpose – increasing strength, weight & fat loss, sporting performance, or optimal health and well-being.

What is Functional Nutrition?

Functional nutrition is the process of tailoring your diet to support a specific purpose, e.g.:

  • Weight & Fat loss, gain, or maintenance
  • Increasing & Building strength
  • Improving muscle mass
  • Endurance
  • Athletic accuracy
  • General athletic performance & output
  • Rehabilitation

What are the Benefits of Functional Nutrition?

The main aim of functional nutrition is to improve cellular function to optimise your overall health and improve performance. Your cells are built from and are fueled by the nutrients you consume, and the classic phrase “you are what you eat” isn’t too far from the truth, but with physical and mental strength and performance, “you become what you eat and absorb” is more accurate.

  • Managing and improving the body’s inflammation
  • Improves recovery time
  • Detoxification
  • Gut and bowel health
  • Fat loss
  • Improving gene expression for resilience
  • Improve strength

What Does Eating Look Like with Functional Nutrition?

Simply put, with functional nutrition, food looks great. Provided that your food choices support your goals, there’s no reason it can’t be delicious. You just have to ensure that your diet is tailored to your circumstances and specific goals.

However, remember that no diet works for everyone – nutrition needs to be tailored to each individual and their specific goals. CGM and CC1 blood monitoring help us to understand how you tolerate physical and mental stressors, therefore allowing us to create an informed nutrition plan that works for your unique body. Still delicious but functional.

How Does Functional Nutrition Work?

Here’s an example of what you can expect from functional nutrition at Human Strength Hub

1. Questionnaire

We’ll first conduct an in-depth health questionnaire to set some initial goals, e.g. fat loss.

2. Planning

From here, we can begin to identify the specific types of food, nutrients and minerals you need to achieve your goals.

3. Results

We’ll keep an eye on how your plan is progressing, and analyse your results to see if anything needs to be tweaked for optimal results.

What Do We Consider When Creating a Nutrition Plan?

When putting together nutritional advice for one of our coaching plans, we take into account the information gathered in your health questionnaire, alongside a few other factors, such as:

  • Disease
  • Age
  • Religion
  • Race
  • Sex
  • Economics
  • Goals
  • Season
  • Genetics

Giovanni Billi
Eleiko Strength Equipment Italy Operations Manager

I cannot recommend Roan at Human Health Hub enough. He is the only consultant I have engaged with where I have seen results, and importantly he only recommends the supplements you need for your body or nutrition goals.

In addition, he listens to a client and recommends the right nutrition, supplements and exercise routines – it isn’t one-size-fits-all; it is highly personalised to get the right results.

Kirsten Ward
Chief Marketing Officer at Situ Live

The big difference with Roan is that he completely views your health and well-being.

Fitness and strength training is at the core, but it’s supported by nutrition advice, supplements to address your specific deficiencies and regular measurement to assess progress.  For me, this is essential; diet, sleep, and exercise are all interdependent, and Roan’s education and advice enable you to make real, sustainable changes to your lifestyle.
